Trinity School is a Lead School for the School Direct programme of Initial Teacher Training (ITT). The Trinity Partnership includes three local primary schools and one other secondary school. Our training programmes are accredited by the University of Reading and lead to PGCE and/or QTS qualifications.

A School Direct ITT programme will give trainees a largely school-based training programme, supported with time spent at the University of Reading. All of our first cohort of trainees were successful in completing their courses in 2014/15 and all secured roles within the Newbury Academy Trust (or, in one case, a different local school) upon completion. Our second cohort of trainees started in September 2015.

For 2021/22 we are offering training courses in 12 different subject areas, with unsalaried places available in Secondary English, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Computing, Geography, History, Languages (French or German), Design & Technology, Art & Design, PE, Drama and Music as well as Religious Education.

Unsalaried places are available to anyone with an appropriate degree; unsalaried trainees have access to student finance, but also very attractive bursaries of up to £30,000 in shortage subjects.

Further general details about teacher training, including bursaries, can be accessed through the following link:

Applications for School Direct programme are made through UCAS, not direct to the school. Further details, and instructions about how to apply can be found using this link:
